The SNS Pink and White Dip Powder System creates what is sometimes known as the “French tip”. The body of the nail is dipped in pink powder, and the tip is dipped in white powder. SNS introduced the first pink and white dip powders more than 30 years ago, and continues to produce the highest quality system available for creating this classically elegant look.

It’s essential to use the right amount of Gel Base: not too much and not too little. Always remember the rule: "thin and evenly." Finish each nail before moving on to the next, and don't wait too long before the next coat.

The pink color usually turns cloudy because some white powder gets into it. After dipping the nails in any powder, you must tap the nails correctly to remove excess powder. Removing excess white powder around the nail will prevent it from clouding the pink color. It’s essential to hold the nail at a 90-degree angle when tapping. If the finger is straight, powder will spread back across the whole nail. Clouding may also occur because of how you apply Gel Base on top of the first layer of pink color. If you apply too much pressure, you will bring white powder from the tip to the nail bed. So, use very light pressure when applying Gel Base to the first color layer.

SNS Dip Powder is easy to remove

• Gently buff off the shine.
• Put 100% Acetone solution in a ZIPLOC bag with Cotton Balls or Cotton Wool.
• Place hand in the bag and have your client rub the cotton over their fingernails.
• For faster removal. Put the bag (above directions) with the hand in it, in a bowl of very warm (not too hot) water. Let soak for 5 to 10 minutes.

There are a few steps you can take, again but please do NOT try to force the bottles open. Our bottles are made out of glass and can cause serious injuries if they're forced open. To ensure your Gel Base, Gel Top and Brush On Glue do not get glues shut, follow these steps:

Before storing SNS Bases, Top coats and Brush-On Glue, make sure you clean the neck of your bottles and inside the caps well with acetone. This will help you prevent product buildup around the neck which could dry making your product nearly impossible to open.

SAFETY RECOMMENDATION: Always use gloves, goggles and a mask when handling SNS products: If your bottle is glued shut and you are unable to open it, we recommend soaking it in hot water for 10-15 minutes then open with a towel covering the bottle and cap. If you are still unable to open your bottles, please do NOT try to force them open.

There are a few steps you can take to ensure this never happens again but please DO NOT try to force the bottles open. Our bottles are made of glass and may cause injuries if they're forced open improperly.

To ensure your Bases and Sealers last as long as possible, follow these steps:

1. Before storing SNS Bases and Top coats, make sure you clean your bottle neck well with acetone. This will help you prevent product buildup around the neck which could dry making your product difficult to open.
2. SAFETY RECOMMENDATION: If your bottle is glued shut and you are unable to open it, we recommend soaking it in hot water for 10-15 minutes. If you are still unable to open your bottles, please DO NOT try to force them open.
3. It is important to wipe the brush after each nail application. Also, make sure the first layer of Gel Top is a quick thin layer. Allow adequate drying time before applying the second layer of Gel Top.

Remember that your Sealer Dry will activate your dip powder, but it will also activate your top coat and make it shiny.

If there is too much Sealer Dry on the nail surface, the Top Coat can activate too fast and cause it to have a cloudy or matte finish. There's a quick fix, just follow these simple steps:

After filing and shaping, make sure you apply a second layer of Sealer Dry and thoroughly rub the nail with a lint-free paper towel. This will push the Sealer Dry into the nail and remove any excess from the nail surface to ensure you get the shiniest top coat!

If you don’t rub the nail, the Top Coat will come into contact with the Sealer Dry and activate, which can also cause your brush to harden. If this happens, simply replace your brush BEFORE returning it to the bottle. If you do not have a replacement brush, wipe the brush on a paper towel square before placing it back in to the Sealer Dry otherwise the product inside will activate and your bottle of Gel Top will be ruined.

SNS does our best to make sure our images depict the actual color accurately. The finished color on a nail is best shown by the nail image, not by the powder color in the jar. We cannot guarantee or promise that the color is the same due to screen variability among computer monitors, laptops and phone screens.

If applied correctly, an SNS dip powder nail color application can last approximately 2 weeks and if you are careful with you nails up to 3 weeks without chipping, discoloring or lifting.

SNS does not recommend dip powder nail refills. The previous application should always be removed prior to a “fresh” SNS dip powder application.

This results from applying the Gel Top too thickly. Gel Top should be applied as thinly and quickly as possible. Avoid putting too much of the Gel Top on the brush. Take the brush out of the bottle and wipe it on a paper towel, then reinsert the brush — but only part way. Just one-third of the brush should be dipped in the Gel Top. This will ensure a thin coat that dries quickly.

Bubbles usually result from not applying enough Gel Base, or from dipping the nail in the powder more than once. After dipping in the powder once, it’s important to entirely coat the powder with sufficient Gel Base, all the way from the bottom to the tip of the nail.

Before applying Gel Base, prepare the cuticle by filing and trimming carefully. Also, make sure to never apply the Gel Base over the cuticle: keep the Gel Base approximately two hairlines away from the cuticle.

Lifting here results from a failure to seal the bottom of the real nail. Water cannot go through plastic, but it can go through the real nail. If water penetrates the nail, it can cause the color to separate. You must seal under the real nail tip, not just on top of it. Review the entire technique for full details. Lifting is also a result of healthy nail growth. As the nail grows, the curvature changes and causes pressure changes that result in natural lifting due to healthy nail growth.

Avoid applying the Gel Base onto the skin and cuticle area. The Gel Base will bond with the skin as the nails grow out. Then, water and nail growth pull at the skin and a gap appears in the cuticle area. This can be avoided by carefully applying the Gel Base to the nail bed only.

SNS Sealer Dry was created especially to work with SNS dipping powders. If you use a monomer, you will make the nails more brittle and liable to crack. Another problem with using a monomer is that the nail easily turns yellow. You’re advised to always use SNS Sealer Dry with SNS dip powders.

The first key here is to make sure you tap away all excess powder every time you dip the finger into the color powder. Tap around the cuticle area in particular to ensure the color is close to the cuticles. Also, use a powder brush to dust away the loose powder. The second key is to ensure that the foundation is completely smooth before applying color. If the foundation is not smooth, ripples will appear in the color surface, and this looks unnatural. See the entire technique for details.

White spots occur when water gets to the natural nail, making it softer. The most important step to prevent this is to seal underneath the nail, not just on top. Look for the free edge of the natural nail and seal along that edge in particular. Another cause is the client waiting too long to come back for a new nail service resulting in water reaching the natural nail bed and causing white spots.

There are two main causes of yellowing. The first is that your Sealer Dry has become contaminated. Once the Sealer Dry is three-quarters used, you should consider replacing it. Look closely to see if it is turning a little brown or yellow—these are signs that it is contaminated. When using Sealer Dry it is essential to keep the brush thoroughly clean. If you refill the same bottle with fresh Sealer Dry, you must thoroughly clean the bottle and brush first with acetone. Yellowing can also be caused by over-the-counter sunscreen products. When your client is using sunscreen products, he or she must be instructed to wipe it off the top of her nails with a wet towel before sun exposure. SNS Sunscreen is highly recommended when using the Pink and White System or light dip powder colors to prevent yellowing caused by sun or chemicals such as hair dye.

Whatever product you are using, fungus is not usually caused by the product itself. Fungus typically results from poor application technique. It can occur when water gets between the color surface and the real nail.

Cracking may occur when the application is not thick enough and is therefore not sufficiently protecting the nail. You may need to apply one or two extra layers of base and dip. However, this must be done correctly: you must apply the product to the proper thickness. Cracking can also be a result of not letting the Gel Base Dip Powder layer dry sufficiently between layers before applying Sealer Dry.

• Be sure to prep the nail and lightly buff off the shine and gently push back the cuticle.
• Shape at the free edge.
• GelStar can be used alone by applying in thin layers; be sure to seal the free edge of the nail with the GelStar.
• Cure each layer for up to a minute in LED light or up to 2 minutes with a UV light.
• With proper application, your nails can last up to ten days.
• Note: Healthy GelStar™ does not require a primer for bonding.
