What is Lavis C08 Glass Gala?

C08 Glass Gala is a 24-shade gel polish collection in the Lavis C-series, the specialty-finish range that runs from C01 to C17. Finish: jelly with silver chrome shimmer. Twenty-four sheer, translucent jelly shades layered with a silver-chrome shimmer for a glass-like gloss, which Lavis calls its hottest jelly line. The chrome sits inside the jelly, so the nail reads as tinted glass with light moving through it.

Every shade is formulated without HEMA, comes in the standard 0.5 fl oz (15 mL) salon bottle, and cures in 60 seconds per coat under a UV/LED lamp. We carry the line as 24 singles and as the 24-color set.

Each code links to its own page with swatch photos; the short description is Lavis's own note on the shade. Screens shift a shade more than a swatch does, so if a client is between two codes, swatch both on a tip before committing.

Singles are the way to trial a line: two or three codes, a few weeks of bookings, then the set once the requests keep coming. The set is for the salon that already has the clientele and wants every code on the wall from one order, with the singles as the restock route afterward.

Lavis pitches this line for all year and party sets. In the salon it tends to book for:

• Clients who like jelly but want sparkle: C08 is C01 with the chrome added.

Within the Lavis range, C01 Jelly Jamboree is the plain jelly line, and C03 Pretty in Pearl the opal one. The whole C-series runs from C01 to C17 with one specialty finish per line, jelly, pearl, cream, neon, glass and cat eye, so most salons pick two or three lines by finish rather than stocking all of them.

How do you apply Lavis C08 gel polish?

1. Prep and base. Push cuticles back, buff the shine off, wipe the plate clean, then cure a thin gel base from Base & Top Gel for 60 seconds.
2. First coat. Thin, with the free edge capped. Cure 60 seconds.
3. Second coat. One coat for a chrome-tinted sheer, two for a glassy jelly. Cure 60 seconds after each coat.
4. Top coat. Seal with a glossy gel top and cure. Lavis quotes up to 21 days of wear with proper prep and a top coat.

Every layer cures under a UV/LED lamp; lamps, files and prep tools are under Nail Tools & Accessories. Removal is a normal gel soak-off.

Layering, topping and French work with a jelly with silver chrome shimmer finish

Translucent and effect finishes give more than one service from a bottle. One coat over a cured cream from SNS Gel Only turns any solid color into a jelly with silver chrome shimmer version of itself. Two coats over bare base give the finish as Lavis designed it. A matte gel top from Base & Top Gel turns the same shade velvet; a glossy top keeps the glass look.

For a French, paint the tip in the shade and let it fade into the base with a soft brush before curing; translucent gels blend where a cream would leave a hard line. Chrome, glitter and foil from Nail Art can be encapsulated under a thin coat of the lighter shades and still show through.

What does HEMA-free mean on this page?

HEMA is the small monomer in most gel products and the one most often named when a client reacts to gel. Lavis formulates the whole C-series without it, and we state that as what is left out, not as a promise that nobody can react; no cosmetic can honestly make that promise. For a tech, it answers the client who has had trouble with gel before.

Wear, removal and stocking the line

• Wear: Lavis quotes up to 21 days with proper prep and a top coat. When the top dulls, a fresh glossy top brings the shine back.
• Removal: a normal gel soak-off. File the top thin, wrap in acetone, wait, push the softened gel away. Never pry.
• Shelf: caps tight, out of window light, at room temperature. Roll the bottle before the first coat of the day; shimmer and pigment settle between uses.
• Stocking: most salons open a C-series line with six to eight codes and the set listing for restocks, rather than all 24 at once.
