What is Lavis C03 Pretty in Pearl?

C03 Pretty in Pearl is a 24-shade gel polish collection in the Lavis C-series, the specialty-finish range that runs from C01 to C17. Finish: pearl and opal. Iridescent, pearlescent opal shades with a mermaid and siren feel: a shimmery, color-shifting finish with a soft opal glow that moves in the light. Lavis also bundles this drop with C05 Neon Obsession as the 48-color Lumi Shock Design set.

Every shade is formulated without HEMA, comes in the standard 0.5 fl oz (15 mL) salon bottle, and cures in 60 seconds per coat under a UV/LED lamp. We carry the line as 24 singles and as the 24-color set and a 48-color combo set.

How do you apply Lavis C03 gel polish?

1. Prep. Cuticles back, a light buff, a clean wipe, then a cured coat of gel base (Base & Top Gel).
2. Coat one. Thin, capped at the free edge, cured 60 seconds.
3. Coat two, and three where needed. Two thin pearl coats; a third deepens the opal glow on the lighter shades. Cure 60 seconds each time.
4. Seal. Glossy gel top, cured. Lavis's wear figure is up to 21 days with proper prep and a top coat.

Layering, topping and French work with a pearl and opal finish

The same bottle does three jobs. As a top layer, one coat over a cured solid color adds the pearl and opal effect to a shade you already stock. As a color, two coats over base give the look Lavis designed. As a French, the shade brushed onto the tip fades into the base with no hard line, which a cream cannot do.

Topping changes it again: glossy gel top for the glass finish, matte top for a velvet one, both under Base & Top Gel. Lighter shades also encapsulate chrome, foil and glitter from Nail Art without hiding them, and a solid cream from SNS Gel Only underneath makes any of the sheer codes opaque.

Where a cream gel hides the nail in two coats, a pearl and opal finish is built in layers: Two thin pearl coats; a third deepens the opal glow on the lighter shades. What does HEMA-free mean on this page?

Every C03 Pretty in Pearl bottle is formulated without HEMA, the small monomer most gel products are built on and the usual suspect when a client reacts to gel. We describe that as an exclusion rather than a safety claim, because no cosmetic can promise that nobody reacts. If a client has reacted before, check what was in the product; it is usually HEMA.
