Frequently asked questions

What is Lavis Cat Eye CE17 Stellar Shift?

The seventeenth drop in the Lavis Cat Eye series: 12 magnetic gel colors, chromatic galaxy shimmer that shifts through jewel tones, numbered CE17-01 to CE17-12. Each is a 0.5 fl oz (15 mL) bottle, formulated without HEMA and without TPO, and cures in 60 to 90 seconds under a UV/LED lamp. We sell the 12 as singles and as one set listing whose Style selector covers every shade plus a Set 12 option.

Which magnet works with Lavis CE17 Stellar Shift?

Any nail magnet: a bar magnet gives a straight line, a stylus a finer one, a dual-line magnet two streaks. None is included with the bottles or the set; ours are in the Magnet collection. Hold it about 2 mm above the wet second coat for three to five seconds and cure the nail right away, one at a time.

Can a client who reacted to gel before wear CE17 Stellar Shift?

Check what was in the product that caused the reaction first. HEMA is the ingredient most often named, and TPO, the photoinitiator, is the other; Lavis formulates all 12 CE17 shades without either. We say that as what is left out rather than a safety promise, because no cosmetic can promise that nobody reacts.

Which CE17 Stellar Shift shades should a salon start with?

For all year: the sapphire-violet code for the classic nebula nail, the teal-leaning ones for a cooler galaxy hand. Within the Lavis series, CE16 Double Vision is the twin-line galaxy drop, CE18 Galactic Halo the halo one. If the client wants the cat eye itself to be the point of the nail rather than this palette, our SNS Crystal Twinkle and Diamond Twinkle lines cover 24 shades each.

Why does my CE17 Stellar Shift line come out soft or blurry?

Timing, almost always. The pigment starts to drift the moment the magnet moves away, so the nail has to go under the lamp within a second or two. Work one nail at a time and flash cure each. The other causes are a first coat that was not cured before the second went on, a second coat too thin to hold pigment, or a magnet held too far from the gel. A dark cured underlayer makes the line read stronger.

What is Lavis Cat Eye CE17 Stellar Shift?

CE17 Stellar Shift is the seventeenth drop in the Lavis Cat Eye series, 12 magnetic gel colors in one palette. Chromatic galaxy shimmer that shifts through jewel tones like a nebula in motion: deep space cosmic shimmer that changes as light moves across it. One shade runs sapphire blue into violet and teal cosmic haze, and the whole drop is built for galaxy nail sets all year.

All 12 are formulated without HEMA and without TPO, come in the standard 0.5 fl oz (15 mL) salon bottle, and cure in 60 to 90 seconds under a UV/LED lamp. Lavis states they are made in California. We carry the drop as 12 singles and as one set that holds all of them.

The 12 shades, as singles or the full set

Each single is one bottle, numbered CE17-01 through CE17-12, and every one shares the same magnetic base. The CE17 Stellar Shift set listing has a Style selector, so it doubles as a second way to buy any single shade or to take the Set 12 option and put the whole drop on the wall at once.

Who is CE17 Stellar Shift for?

Lavis pitches this drop for all year. In the salon it tends to book for:

  • Galaxy nail sets: the shift does the nebula work without hand-painting.
  • Color-shift and chameleon fans: sapphire to violet to teal in one bottle.
  • Evening and event nails: the shimmer reads as jewelry under low light.
  • Techs stocking the cosmic trio: CE16, CE17 and CE18 cover twin-line, shift and halo.

Within the series, CE16 Double Vision is the twin-line galaxy drop, CE18 Galactic Halo the halo one.

How do you apply Lavis CE17 cat eye gel?

  1. Start clean. Push back the cuticle, buff lightly, dehydrate, then cure a thin gel base (Base & Top Gel).
  2. Thin first coat of CE17 Stellar Shift. Cure it for 60 seconds before the magnet comes anywhere near the nail.
  3. Second coat, then the magnet. Apply a slightly thicker coat and, before curing, hold a cat eye magnet roughly 2 mm above the surface for three to five seconds. The shimmer gathers into a line under the magnet.
  4. Flash cure right away. A second or two of delay lets the pigment relax, so cure each nail as soon as its line is right, then give the whole hand a 60 to 90 second cure.
  5. Glossy top. Cure a gel top coat over it. The line is inside the cured color and lasts as long as the top does; Lavis quotes up to 21 days with proper prep.

Cat eye magnets are sold separately in our Magnet collection; lamps and files are under Nail Tools & Accessories.

Straight, diagonal or double: where the magnet goes

Straight, diagonal, curved or double: the shape of the line is only where you hold the magnet. Lengthwise over the center for the classic streak, angled for a diagonal, one end closer for a curve, two flash-cured passes for a double line. Held flat, the magnet spreads the shimmer evenly instead.

Want a harder line? Put a cured coat of a dark gel from SNS Gel Only underneath CE17 Stellar Shift. Want the color itself to lead? Apply it straight over base.

What do HEMA-free and TPO-free mean on this page?

Lavis makes CE17 Stellar Shift without HEMA and without TPO. HEMA is the small monomer behind most gel formulas and the ingredient most often named in gel reactions; TPO is the photoinitiator that lets the lamp cure the gel. Leaving them out is a formulation choice we can state plainly; it is not a guarantee that no client will react, and we do not present it as one.

Lavis CE17 Stellar Shift next to SNS Crystal Twinkle and Diamond Twinkle

Three cat eye lines share this shelf. SNS Crystal Twinkle pulls a fine, sharp line across a 24-shade range; SNS Diamond Twinkle gives a bold, three-dimensional sparkle across another 24. Lavis CE17 Stellar Shift is a curated twelve, chromatic galaxy shimmer that shifts through jewel tones, and Lavis describes its 9D pigment as giving a sharper, deeper line the closer the magnet is held.

Pick CE17 Stellar Shift when the brief is chromatic galaxy shimmer that shifts through jewel tones with a cat eye inside it. Pick an SNS line when the client wants a specific shade outside this palette, or the cat eye itself to be the point of the nail.

Wear, removal and keeping the bottles right

  • Wear time: the top coat sets the limit, not the cat eye; the line is sealed inside. Re-top at week two if the gloss fades.
  • Removal: soak-off like any gel. Thin the surface with a file, wrap with acetone, wait, push. No peeling.
  • Keep magnets off the shelf: a magnet next to a bottle pulls the pigment to the glass wall; shake the bottle back before the next coat.
  • Bottle care: tight cap, no direct sun, room temperature, and a roll between the palms before the first coat of the day.
