Frequently asked questions
What is Lavis Cat Eye CE1 Cozy Cashmere?
The first drop in the Lavis Cat Eye series: twelve magnetic gel colors in creamy nudes and warm latte tones, numbered CE1-01 to CE1-12. Each is a 0.5 fl oz (15 mL) bottle, formulated without HEMA and without TPO, and cures in 60 to 90 seconds under a UV/LED lamp. We sell the twelve as singles and as one set listing whose Style selector covers every shade plus a Full (1-12) option.
Do I need a magnet for Lavis cat eye gel?
Yes. The pigment is magnetic and only forms a line when a magnet is held about 2 mm above the wet second coat for three to five seconds. Without one the gel cures as an even shimmer, which is also a look on a nude, but not a cat eye. Any bar or stylus nail magnet works. The magnet is sold separately and is not on this site yet. Work one nail at a time and flash cure each as soon as the line is right.
Is Lavis CE1 HEMA-free, and what does that mean?
Lavis formulates all twelve CE1 shades without HEMA and without TPO. HEMA is the small monomer in most gel products and the one most often named when a client reacts to gel; TPO is a photoinitiator, the ingredient that turns lamp light into a cure. We state this as what is left out, not as a promise that nobody can react, because no cosmetic can honestly make that promise. If a client has reacted to gel before, check what was in it first.
How is Lavis CE1 different from SNS Crystal Twinkle or Diamond Twinkle?
Palette and effect. CE1 is twelve shades built around one story, warm nudes, with a soft glowing line that reads as a plain nude when the hand is still. Our SNS Cat Eye lines are 24 shades each across the full color range: Crystal Twinkle pulls a fine, sharp line and Diamond Twinkle a bold three-dimensional sparkle. Pick CE1 for a neutral manicure with a hidden effect, an SNS line when the cat eye is the point of the nail. All three use the same base, top and magnet technique.
What is Lavis Cat Eye CE1 Cozy Cashmere?
CE1 is the first drop in the Lavis Cat Eye series: twelve magnetic gel colors in creamy nudes and warm latte tones. Lavis describes the palette as morning sunlight on soft fabric, and that is a fair picture of it. Every shade is a neutral first and a cat eye second, so the magnetic line reads as a soft glow inside the nude rather than a hard metallic streak.
All twelve are formulated without HEMA and without TPO, come in the standard 0.5 fl oz (15 mL) salon bottle, and cure in 60 to 90 seconds under a UV/LED lamp. Lavis states they are made in California. We carry the drop as twelve singles and as one set that holds all twelve.
The twelve shades, as singles or the full set
Each single is one bottle, numbered CE1-01 through CE1-12, and every one sits in the same warm-neutral family. The CE1 set listing has a Style selector, so it doubles as a second way to buy any single shade or to take the Full (1-12) option and put the whole drop on the wall at once.

Each listing carries its own swatch photos. Screens shift a nude more than they shift a jewel tone, so if a client is between two codes, swatch both on a tip before committing.
Who is a nude cat eye for?
The client who wants the effect but not a statement nail. A Cozy Cashmere line catches light when the hand moves and disappears into a plain nude when it is still, which is why this drop books well for office wear, weddings, and anyone who says "something, but not too much."
- Everyday and bridal: the lighter creams read as a glowing sheer from arm's length.
- French and accent work: a latte cat eye on the ring finger next to four plain nudes is a common set.
- Fall through spring: Lavis pitches the palette for the cooler months, and the warm undertones do sit well against sweaters and coats. It wears fine in summer too.
- Salons opening a cat eye wall: a nude drop is the safest first purchase, because every client can wear at least three of the twelve.
How do you apply Lavis CE1 cat eye gel?
- Prep and base. Push cuticles back, buff the shine off, wipe the plate clean. Apply a thin gel base and cure it. Our base and top gels are under Base & Top Gel.
- First coat. A thin, even coat of CE1, cured for 60 seconds. This coat is the color bed, so do not use the magnet yet.
- Second coat and the magnet. A slightly fuller coat. Before it cures, hold a cat eye magnet about 2 mm above the wet gel for three to five seconds. Do not touch the surface. The pigment lines up under the field and forms the streak.
- Flash cure, one nail at a time. The particles start to drift as soon as the magnet moves away, so the nail goes under the lamp within a second or two. Full cure once all five are done, 60 to 90 seconds.
- Top coat. Seal with a glossy gel top and cure. The line sits inside the cured color, so it lasts as long as the top coat does; Lavis quotes up to 21 days with proper prep.
The magnet is sold separately and is not on this site yet; any bar or stylus nail magnet works. Lamps, files and prep tools are under Nail Tools & Accessories.
Straight, diagonal or double: where the magnet goes
A nude cat eye rewards a soft line. Hold the magnet lengthwise over the center for the classic single streak, or angle it so the streak crosses the nail on a diagonal. For a double line, make two short passes on either side with a flash cure between them. Holding the magnet flat over the whole nail, or skipping it, gives an even shimmer with no line, which on a cream shade looks like a lit-from-inside sheer.
A dark cured underlayer is the usual trick for making a cat eye pop, but on Cozy Cashmere it changes the character of the shade. Try the color over its own base first; if you want more contrast, a cured coat of a darker neutral from SNS Gel Only keeps the latte mood while deepening the line.
What do HEMA-free and TPO-free mean on this page?
HEMA is the small monomer in most gel products and the one most often named when a client reacts to gel. TPO is a photoinitiator, the ingredient that turns lamp light into a cure. Lavis formulates CE1 without either, and we state that as what is left out, not as a promise that nobody can react; no cosmetic can honestly make that promise. For a tech, it answers the client who has had trouble with gel before and still wants a cat eye.
Lavis CE1 next to SNS Crystal Twinkle and Diamond Twinkle
We sell three cat eye lines, and they are built for different jobs. Our own SNS Cat Eye Gel comes in two 24-shade lines: Crystal Twinkle for a fine, sharp light-shifting line, Diamond Twinkle for a bolder three-dimensional sparkle across the whole nail. Lavis CE1 is a twelve-shade drop built around one palette, warm nudes, with a 9D magnetic pigment that, in Lavis's words, gives a sharper and deeper line the closer the magnet is held.

Pick CE1 when the brief is a neutral manicure with a hidden effect. Pick an SNS line when the client wants the cat eye to be the point of the nail, or when you need a color that is not a nude.
Wear, removal and keeping the bottles right
- Wear: the line is locked inside the cured gel and does not wear off. When the top coat dulls, a fresh glossy top brings the shine back without touching the line.
- Removal: a normal gel soak-off. File the top thin, wrap in acetone, wait, push the softened gel away. Never pry.
- Magnet storage: keep the magnet away from the open bottles. Left beside one, it pulls the pigment to one side of the glass and the next coat comes out uneven until you shake it back.
- Shelf: caps tight, out of the window light, at room temperature. Magnetic pigment settles a little between uses; roll the bottle before the first coat of the day.
