How to apply #139

Start with a clean, dry plate: cuticles pushed back, nail shaped, shine buffed off, alcohol wipe. Then pick the service.

1. Dip on the hands. Thin base, dip #139, tap, thin base, dip again. Activator, file, buff, activator again, top coat. Nothing to cure.
2. Gel on the hands. Cure a thin gel base, cure two thin coats of the #139 GelStar, cure the gel top and wipe.
3. Lacquer on the toes. Two coats of the #139 lacquer, left to air-dry.

To remove the dip or the gel, soak in acetone. Do not peel; it takes the top layer of the plate with it.

How do I get a smooth surface on a glitter powder like #139?

Glitter powders carry the sparkle in the powder itself, so the surface is a little more textured than a cream before you file. Do the same rounds of base and powder, then file lightly, buff, and rely on the top coat to level the finish. Most techs use a glitter as an accent nail over a cream from the same family.

How do I remove #139?

Acetone soak for the dip and the gel, ordinary remover for the lacquer. Wear is a few weeks for most clients, more or less depending on prep and what the hands do all day.

Do I need an activator with #139?

Yes. This is the standard SNS dip routine: base, powder, base, powder, then the Sealer Dry activator over the whole nail before you file, and a second coat before top coat. The activator is what sets the powder. The two no-activator books (Green and Yellow Green) skip it; the Blue Book does not.
